In the best interests of the Maple Leafs, Raptors and TFC …
Kudos to Steve Simmons …

Peddie should leave now: Time for MLSE boss to step down
It isn’t just time for Richard Peddie to leave. It’s overtime.
He used to sell packaged goods and if anyone understands best before dates, it is him.
Peddie likes to point to all his successes — four professional sporting franchises under his watch, three television networks, the condos, office towers and sports bar that is Maple Leafs Square — and it has been a massive undertaking for the king of bafflegab.
As a businessman, he has been an immense success.
As a sportsperson, he has been a dismal failure.

In this instance, however, he has knocked a Deep Shot, clear over the stands in Right Field.

I couldn’t agree more as I believe that Richard Peddie is not a sports fan but a businessman who will continue to reign over MLSE by offering a poor quality product at an inflated price to desperate hockey fans in a non competition market such as Southern Ontario where the Leafs are the only game in town and until the NHL expands into Southern Ontario with a 2nd team that offers fans a choice, the substandard product will continue to be offered to the public who by and large, are largely responsible for creating this mess but continually supporting substandard hockey

With Peddie out of the way, will BC still be protected? Will the reign of unaccountability finally be over? This is promising news indeed.

Scott G.,
Agreed.

joeyb,
1. Welcome aboard!
2. No 2nd team is needed in Southern Ontario for the Leafs to put a Stanley Cup winning team on the ice. What they need is to hire the right people in the first place to run their hockey operations department. Until they get someone with the long term vision of Ken Holland, for example, they will continue to flounder.

Mike D,
IMO, Bryan Colangelo will still be protected … even without Richard Peddie as the President/CEO of MLSE.
If Bryan Colangelo leaves the employment of MLSE anytime soon it will be because he chooses to pursue other goals which are bigger than the running of a single franchise in the NBA, not because he is fired.

150% Agree with Richard Peddie needing to go. It’s easy to blame Burke and Colangelo for the failures of the Leafs and Raptors (much of it deserved), but who meddled in the management of the franchises before either one of them came? Who has been at the head of ownership during the past decade when all of this mess was happening?
