Baseline drive allowed by Turkoglu [vs Jefferson]; Bargnani forced to provide Help; kick-out pass to Bonner [vs Calderon forced to cover 2 spot-up shooters on the weak side]

… it really doesn’t matter very much, when it comes to winning and losing games against high calibre opponents in the NBA.

Instead of blaming the coaching staff, or individual players …

Courtside – Without D, Raps are doomed

Raptors take one on the chin

as this season progresses, slowly but surely, important questions will need to be asked instead of the architect[s] responsible for [re-]constructing this year’s Raptors team hoping thinking that the current roster was going to be capable of Defending and Rebounding like a high end team in the NBA.

    Khandor,

There is more then enough blame to go around. IMHO, this Raptors team should be able to defend a Spurs team missing Parker and Duncan, the same way they defended better teams already this season.

    Raps Fan,

In your judgment, what “better” teams have the Raptors defended well against already this season?

  3. Raps Fan Says:

Sorry, I didn’t mean well, I meant better. I also didn’t mean to imply that Ginobili/Jefferson/Hill/Bonner/Blair are bad players, just that a team like the Raptors should be able to limit them to less then 130 points or so.

    Raps Fan,

    1. No problem.

As presently constructed, the Raptors are a poor defensive team, and may well struggle the entire season when it comes to holding down the score against the better squads in this league.
