This is a key early game for the Raptors indicating where the team’s talent level actually stands in relation to the mid-lower tier teams in the Western Conference expected to miss the playoffs this season. If the Raptors can win this game on the road against an opponent of this calibre it will be a good sign. If not …

After opening their schedule at home vs Detroit [Wed Oct 28], Memphis should be highly motivated to play well in this match-up.

Raptors expected W-L Record: L, 0-2

are u saying were going to go 0-2 against memphis? cause thats what I thought I read and I know you dont think that.

no wait I was wrong u do think memphis is that good, wow.
I’ll admit they have some good young players but Iverson and Randoplh are not the best role models for those kids and I dont expect them to play
as a team. infact I expect that team to be a big mess.

just curious where do u think the raps will finish this season in the east?

    Reply,

Yes … with training camp set to begin next week … I think that the Raptors will start this season 0-2.

    re: Memphis

There is more young NBA talent on this squad than many people realize.

re: where Raptors will finish in the EC this season

The Raptors have essentially changed their entire squad from last year, save for Bosh, Calderon & Bargnani.

Right now the EC looks like it could go in a whole bunch of different ways, given the sheer number of Middle-of-the-Pack teams that could finish anywhere from #4-15.

#1-3 will probably be some combination of BOS, CLE & ORL.

ATL, MIA & WAS look like solid bets to earn a playoff spot.

PHI, CHI, DET, IND, CHA & TOR look like they will all be contenders for the remaining 2 playoff positions.

NJN, NYK & MIL are teams that could very easily move up to playoff contender status or be in the 2010 Lottery.

There will be zero “bad” teams in the EC this season.

IMO, it’s a mistake to think that any of PHI, CHI, DET, IND, CHA, TOR, NJN, NYK or MIL has a playoff spot locked up this season, given the level of parity that exists right now.

Once training camp begins, and exhibition games take place, and the rosters are finalized, and the first 10 games are played, etc., then it should begin to get a little bit more clear where things stand this year.

0-2 is your predicted record to the start of the season
where as I read it as 0-2 is the record we will have playing against memphis.

my bad, been reading too many blogs lately trying to get my raptors fix.
guess I confused yours with another.

    Reply,

No problem. That’s a simple mistake that anyone could have made.
