From a personal standpoint, there’s a great deal to like about what the Turkish Michael Jordan had to say during his introductory press conference yesterday.

In the judgment of this corner, he is a solid player and an upstanding citizen who brings a substantial degree of panache to the table each day on behalf of whatever team he chooses to play for in the NBA.

In essence, Hedo chose to sign with the Raptors because he felt good about:

1. The players on the team already, especially Chris Bosh;

2. The quality of the organization, on the whole;

3. His long standing relationship with Bryan Colangelo [GM]; and,

4. His comfort level with the City of Toronto … i.e. a large, cosmopolitan metropolis like the one in which he was raised, Istanbul, that is home to 15 million people.

Turkoglu’s addition, in and of itself, is a productive step for the Raptors.
